Please keep the people of Puerto Rico in your prayers. I spoke to a friend of mine who has family there. It really is bad and getting more desperate each day. This is a good time to remember how lucky we are over here.
Have a great evening, and GO, CUBS, GO!!!!!!!!

Homework:Math: Practice number recognition 1-100;
Practice days of the eek and months of the
year.
Spelling: Study for Friday's test
Now that we have started putting together addition and subtraction sentences, now would be a good time to start working with the addition and subtraction flashcards that were on your supply list for first grade. There is no way around it, the children need to know the basic facts. This is also a precursor for multiplication and division. Learning these facts now, will save a lot of frustration later.

Happy first day of fall. Actually, happy first half day of fall.
Today is National Rhinoceros Day. Every year rhinos are killed for their horns. They are becoming an endangered species. Read up on the rhinoceros and discuss conservation with your children. You can talk about how everything in this world has a value.
If you have not sent in headphones or earbuds for your child please do so by Monday. We begin MAP testing on Tuesday and these will be needed.
Have a great weekend, stay cool, and don't forget to attend mass.

Tomorrow is Rock the Block. Hope everyone gets to attend. Have a great time!!!
We had a visit from the fire department's Survive Alive House. The fire fighters were great and spoke to the children not only about how to get out in case of fire, but also about families having a plan for evacuation in case of fire. It was also stressed about the importance of the children knowing their home address. All of the children should know their address. If your child does not please work on this. They are old enough to know it by now.
Enjoy the weekend and don't forget to attend mass.

We had our first fire drill . Remind your child that mouths need to be closed and ears and eyes need to be open as well as no running in line. I take these drills very seriously and your child should too.
Please remember to keep in your prayers those affected by hurricanes Harvey and Irma as well as those wonderful first responders.
Let us never forget the events of 9/11 and pray that nothing like that ever happens again.
